Alexander and Gladys Shepherd agricultural scholarships helping create farmers of tomorrow – without financial stress today
Fourteen young Taranaki and Manawatū young people have received a helping hand on their way to agricultural careers, thanks to the latest Alexander and Gladys Shepherd Scholarships.
Perpetual Guardian established the foundation in 1989 in accordance with the Will of the Shepherd’s – a Taranaki couple passionate about agriculture and keen to nurture a crucial part of New Zealand’s economy. We continue to manage and administer the scholarships, with two granting rounds a year since 2010. Palmerston North’s Brittany Hill told NZ Farmer that the scholarship of $5,000 means she doesn’t have to stress about the financial pressure university students can face.
