You can make a difference. And together we’ll create change
With more than 130 years of experience in managing private wealth and charitable funds, Perpetual Guardian has established a proud reputation for long-term planning, prudent management and specialist Trust administration.
It is our privilege to administer the Perpetual Guardian Foundation, and over 580 Charitable and Endowment Trusts, on behalf of the generous legacies of our clients. This translates approximately $30 million per annum invested in grants and scholarships.
The desire to give comes from the heart, but the ability to make an ongoing difference comes from sound thinking and careful planning. In our experience, the most successful philanthropic enterprises are characterised by effective giving principals and rigorous investment strategies. We have the expertise and experience to assist you in becoming more thoughtful and intentional in your giving so that your personal philanthropy can have a greater impact. As the custodian of your philanthropic investment, we work hard to understand and act upon your founding vision and match you to a giving vehicle that best suits your means.
Giving while living. Giving during your lifetime allows you to be actively involved in developing your philanthropic legacy and participate in the benefits it bestows. Your involvement can be as much or as little as you would like – you can have a hands-on approach to the management and granting process, or you can take a purely strategic role.
After your lifetime. Giving during your lifetime leaves you with a window of opportunity to conduct your philanthropy. This may not be the best means of achieving your goals, especially if your vision is to build sustainable charitable organisations or effect large-scale change.
A Charitable Trust is a legal structure which acts as your vehicle for philanthropic giving. It is specifically designed for charitable purposes, whether it relates to the relief of poverty, the advancement of education or religion, or any other matter beneficial to the community. For those who wish to make large donations, a Charitable Trust structure may be the preferred solution. A Charitable Trust may have a limited lifespan or exist in perpetuity – both of these options can provide long-term support for the causes close to your heart.
Perpetual Guardian Foundation
The Perpetual Guardian Foundation was designed to make giving accessible for everyone. You can have an impact no matter how big or small your contribution.
Bequests and Wills
Bequests are not just for the ‘rich and famous’, they are made by everyday people. After you’ve taken care of your family and friends, you too may wish to leave a gift to your favourite charities in your Will. Together, we aim to do what no single charity can do alone, make legacy giving a social norm, and ensure that every New Zealander is protected by a Will. We support this belief by offering Wills to donors at a more accessible price point and partnering with organisations who wish to enhance or create bequest programmes.
At Perpetual Guardian, we are an organisation focused on continuous improvement and emerging practice. As such we have relationships with other leading philanthropic organisations in New Zealand and are members of Grant makers for Effective Organisations, and members and sponsors of Philanthropy New Zealand.
